Mr. Mhm. Just a few moments ago, together with two friends, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed of the United Arab Emirates, I made a very special appeal for them to agree on a historic peace agreement. The head of the Israeli settler group Yesha Council, David Elhayani,[he], accused Mr. Netanyahu of ”betraying” some of his most loyal supporters and of ”deceiving half a million people in the region and hundreds of thousands of voters.” Oded Revivi [he], the mayor of Efrat, a settlement of more than 9,000 people south of Jerusalem, supported Netanyahu, arguing that ”the Israeli agreement to defer the application of Israeli law in the Jewish settlements of Judea and Samaria was a fair price to pay,” adding that it could change the way settlements are viewed. Beit El Settlement Mayor Shai Alon and Shomron Regional Council President Yossi Dagan also criticized the agreement. The Tunisian People`s Representatives` Assembly criticized the agreement and said it was in solidarity with the Palestinian cause. Many people protested outside the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Tunis, people burned Israeli flags and photos of UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, while supporting the Palestinian cause for independence. Tunisian President Kais Saied then said that Tunisia was not interfering in the agreement and would not oppose, but would support the Palestinians. Iran`s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, recently blew up the United Arab Emirates, which signed its own peace agreement with Israel a few weeks ago, and said they had ”betrayed” the Muslim world. Not surprisingly, Iran strongly criticized the agreement, with the Foreign Ministry saying it was a ”strategic stupidity” that would ”undoubtedly strengthen the axis of resistance in the region.” The Turkish Foreign Ministry also strongly criticized: ”While the United Arab Emirates is betraying the Palestinian cause to serve its narrow interests, they are trying to present this as a kind of self-denial for Palestine,” he said. It was also anticipated for some time that Israel would participate in The Expo 2020 World Expo, which was due to take place last October in the most populous city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, but which was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
